Will your employer pay you?

In South Dakota, no state law requires your employer to pay your wages during jury service (federal law protects your job, not your pay). Employer may not discharge/suspend an employee for jury service and must preserve job status/seniority (SDCL 16-13-41.1), but pay during jury absence is at the employer's discretion (per SD Dept. of Labor & Regulation). Violation is a Class 2 misdemeanor.
